Merchant Navy Courses and Jobs

The merchant navy is different from the military navy in respect of the services that it offers. Whereas a military navy offers national defense services the function of the merchant navy is to offer commercial services. Generally there are three kinds of fleets in a merchant navy.
1. Cargo carriers
2. Oil tankers and other special vehicles
3. Passenger liners.
Similarly area of operation for a merchant navy officer spreads over three main areas.
1. The captain.
2. Second officer
3. Third officer and other posts that make up the deck workforce
